Ki Tai (To the Sea)

Providing opportunities to learn discipline and get physically and mentally fit; understand and learn core values; develop leadership capability and self-confidence through access to positive role models and mentors.

Overview

The Ki Tai programme is delivered from the Kulim Boatsheds, built around ‘on the water’ activities. Participants are taught about water safety, the rich cultural heritage of Tauranga moana and its landmarks, and knowledge of the environment and the need to practice kaitiakitanga for the well-being of our magnificent harbour.

Activities cover a range of water sports on the inner Tauranga harbour, where water areas are relatively safe, and in appropriate tidal conditions can be used daily. Ki Tai will provide Scottish rowing skiffs, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and waka ama to build confidence, fitness, and knowledge of the sea and our environment.
