OUR HOME
Youth Central (Te Puna Taiohi) is the home of the BOPYDT, and is the largest dedicated youth development and community facility of its kind in Aotearoa.
OUR PROGRAMMES
The TBA programme focuses on mentoring and building the total wellbeing of youth from the ages of 9-18, using boxing and related fitness skills to help build character, and develop their social, mental and relational skills.
IBA is an intensive 11 week pre-employment programme for youth not currently engaged in work or education. It combines personal development, employment pathway planning and work experience, with pastoral support provided for a further six months once the participants are employed or in education training.
The AIGA (Pasifika Youth Suicide Prevention) programme is designed to develop resilience and awareness of mental health and wellbeing strategies in a cultural context suitable for Pasifika youth.
The Ki Tai programme is an outdoor, adventure-based, education/fitness programme focused on water sports around Tauranga Moana. It is currently in development by the BOPYDT.
Youth Central’s coffee shop not only delivers great coffee – it’s a place for youth to learn transferable hospitality employment skills, and for the wider community to connect with the BOPYDT community.
Our mission at Te Aranui Youth Trust is to inspire and challenge vulnerable youth to make safe and positive life choices. We work with Police and the Ministry of Education to provide programmes to support our rangatahi on a positive pathway.
